| SPLIT, CROATIA-(7-8-2005) Tonci Stipanovic and Tonko Kuzmanic convincingly are leading in men senior competition after first day of sailing. Second (woman) sailor of the world, Paige Railey, with two first positions in her's fleet is the best in women senior competition. In race participate 344 sailors from 36 countries (including Brasil, USA, New Zeland and Australia).
„We are far ahead from the others on strong wind. We enter the finish line with advantage of 200 meters and with this condition nobody can't beat us“- says two times world junior champion in laser radial Tonci Stipanovic.
In olimpic class for women laser radial, american Page Railey was the best after first two races and the best european after the first day of regata is Sari Multala from Finland.
Australian Krystal Weir, the last year world champion, is presently 28'th.
In junior class Luka Mratovic is third overall with same number of points as the first and second competitor.
In junior women competition, Tina Mihelic, with 4 negative points is presently leading.
With almost 350 lasers on sea and 80 support boats, regata in Split is the one of the most numerous competitions in history of European laser championships (one week competition). Thaks to good organization opening was smooth, except the moment when ferry boat „Dalmatino“ almost interrupted the race. On Monday we have two races and start of the first one is scheduled for 11 AM.
